He’s Just like Herpes…

The symptoms my diminish, but you never know when there’ll be a flare-up.

This time, he’s written a letter to Take-Two Exec’s mother. ‘Tis classy stuff, but, then, Thompson is a a class act, what with his witty comparisons to the Hitler Youth, bible quoting (in the midst of hateful rhetoric, no less) and quotes such as:

The pornography and violence that your son trafficks in is the kind of stuff that most mothers would be ashamed to see their son putting into the hands of other mothers’ children, but, hey, your son Strauss has recently assured the world that he is “a Boy Scout, everybody knows that.” I’d love to see the merit badges that Scout Troop handed out. Is there a Ted Bundy merit badge? If so, your loving son deserves one now. It should be red and green, for obvious reasons.

Yes. Class act, indeed. It makes you wonder when a cure for Herpes will be found. None too soon in my opinion.

What happens when you change/re-implement a feature that a large portion of your user base loves to something they don’t, then insist that the new way is the “right way to do it”? The peasants revolt. That’s what.

For those who are annoyed enough to switch to other products (personally, I’m waiting for 2.4.2 to see if it gets better), there’s a massive list on Wikipedia.

If Digsby ever incorporates MySpace chat, I’ll switch to it everywhere in a heartbeat.

HD DVD a dead format

Man, I hate being wrong and hate it even more that Blue-Ray is going to be the HD standard, but Toshiba has announced that it will no longer produce HD DVDs, making Sony’s Blue-Ray format the de facto winner.

I love it when a company has a bit of fun with their products. It’s part of the reason why I love Blizzard’s games so much.

Lotus Notes Sucks

OK, regardless of what Engadget says, Lotus Notes IS NOT bragging rights. In fact, I will laugh at you. A lot.

Government wants to spy on all US net traffic

“in order to accomplish his plan, the government must have the ability to read all the information crossing the Internet in the United States in order to protect it from abuse.”

Yeah, I think he sunk his chances with the following statment:

“Americans will have to trust the government not to abuse the authority it must have in order to protect our networks, and yet, historically the government has not proved worthy of that trust.”

So, remind me, why am I supposed to give you this power again?

That was fast. Much faster than I anticipated…by five years, actually.

Netscape browser goes the way of the dodo

Posted by J.A.S.O.N. on 31 Dec 2007 | Tagged as: Babble, Software, Stupidity

Sadly, it was inevitable. For years, Netscape has been nothing more than a re-branded version of Firefox with AOL’s garbage built into it.

I think the last version of Netscape I used seriously was version 4.7. I played with some of the other versions, but stopped after they were just copying the Mozilla code.

Still, the Netscape brand will always have a special place in my memory.
