Sorry guys, holiday season and all. I’ve been really busy with several birthdays, getting ready for christmas andtrying to find ways to unwind after all the hectic stuff that’s been going on.

The sequel of the revenge of the return of the son of the blog post title, part 2

Posted by J.A.S.O.N. on 19 Jun 2007 | Tagged as: Babble, Site News

Geez. Ok, ok, I get it. You like blog post titles. What a bunch of whiners. :)

Due to open reader revolt, I’m reinstating blog post titles. That has to be a record.

In other news, blog post titles are over-rated and I don’t think I’m going to use them anymore. At least, until I decide I do again.

Early morning and a new vision

Posted by J.A.S.O.N. on 07 Feb 2006 | Tagged as: Babble, Site News

On my way out the door at 6:15am, I kicked the sun and told him to get his lazy ass outta bed. You guys can thank me later after I awake from my coma.

In other news, I’ve put up a new design on my site. As with all other designes I’ve had, this one is not my own, but one that I have unceremoniously kidnapped and brutally molested for my own purposes. I have everything except the Site Links section beat into submission. The only reason that part is holding out is because it’s pulled from the wordpress links section and I haven’t quite figured out which part of the code (be it CSS or php) that defines that amount of space between the lines. Any suggestions are welcome.

The graphic at the top may change over time. I do believe a randomized image script is in order there.

Making Wordpress 2 bearable

Posted by J.A.S.O.N. on 25 Jan 2006 | Tagged as: Babble, Internet, Site News

I’m not sure how many people have moved to Wordpress 2 (I know you have John, which means that Tone has, too) but there’s some things I find pretty annoying about it.

For one, I despise the WYSIWYG editor in the new Write screen. I also don’t care for the RSS feeds in the new Dashboard. Overall, I just don’t like the look and feel of the new admin panel at all. If you’re like me, here’s some things to help.

First, disable that damnable WYSIWYG editor. Go to Users -< Your Profile and look for a checkbox near the bottom that says “Use the visual rich editor when writing” and uncheck that bad boy. That will revert you back to the old style post screen; something I like much better than that rich text editor.

The RSS feeds that are loaded on the main Dashboard page are SLLLOOOOOWWWW and really don’t belong there. It wouldn’t be that harsh if there were a way to remove them or modify them from within the interface, but there isn’t. The only choice you get without modifying WP core files is what the wordpress developers deem worthy. Not cool guys. I suggest using Angsuman’s WordPress 2.0 / 1.5.x Dashboard Replacement. It replaces the /wp-admin/index.php file, a WP core file, but I think it’s worth it since my Dashboard can take up to a minute to load because of all the RSS feeds it has to grab. Maybe the developers should consider making that a tweakable option instead of forcing us to endure what they think is useful.

Next on my hit list is the admin panel look. The admin panel itself isn’t bad, I just don’t care for the new colors and such. To fix that, I suggest Tiger Style Administration, an admin panel replacement that’s reminiscent of Mac OSX. It’s got a less cluttered feel and just looks nice. It also performs faster for me.

I’m still looking for a way to use the old-style Press It popup instead of the full page redirect one. If anyone has any ideas on that one, I’m all ears.

Scarce

Posted by J.A.S.O.N. on 18 Jan 2006 | Tagged as: Friends & Family, Site News

Blogging will probably be more scarce than usual over the next four days. My father and his new wife, Cheryl, are coming to town to visit for my sister’s graduation.

I’ll post any interesting tidbits, but it’s looking like it’s going to be a busy few days.

Inoperable Terran

Interesting. I’ve somehow made it onto Inoperable Terran’s blogroll.

In reviewing the site, it appears to be highly political. I suppose I’ve posted quite a bit on what I think has gone wrong in politics lately, but never imagined it would catch the eye of a political blog. Especially one that graces the blogrolls of such pundits as Wiz-Bang, iowa hawk and Cox & Forkum, among others. Most appear more “right” oriented, which baffles me even further since I’ve been fairly critical of the current administration.

However, I’m not one to question good fortune and I most certainly welcome the traffic. Maybe I’ll email Ian S. and see what he sees in me.

Quickies

Posted by J.A.S.O.N. on 22 Nov 2005 | Tagged as: Friends & Family, Site News

Several quick updates.

  1. The big announcement I couldn’t say anything about? Yeah, Crystal got a new job at Target as a Loss Prevention Manager and will be starting in early December. This means a healthy pay increase at a time when we could really use it and better advancement opportunities for her. Sears is tripping over themselves trying to find a way to keep her.
  2. I added Google Reader to the list of readers to subscribe to my feed in quickSub at the top (the rss link).
  3. I’m sick. It sucks.

The digital diverge

Posted by J.A.S.O.N. on 18 Nov 2005 | Tagged as: Babble, Internet, Site News

I opened another blog. This one is specifically targeted at blogging about things like the RIAA, MPAA, DRM, Copyright, etc. Basically, how the various industries are using these tools for or against consumers.

Expect a lot of negativity and expect the RIAA and MPAA to recieve a lot of bad press there.

Anyway, if anyone’s interested, the URL is www.digitaldiverge.com. I originally wanted www.digitaldivide.com, but it was already registered.

So, how do I cash in?
