He’s Just like Herpes…

Posted by J.A.S.O.N. on 06 May 2008 | Tagged as: Babble, Games, Internet, Rants, Software, Stupidity

The symptoms my diminish, but you never know when there’ll be a flare-up.

This time, he’s written a letter to Take-Two Exec’s mother. ‘Tis classy stuff, but, then, Thompson is a a class act, what with his witty comparisons to the Hitler Youth, bible quoting (in the midst of hateful rhetoric, no less) and quotes such as:

The pornography and violence that your son trafficks in is the kind of stuff that most mothers would be ashamed to see their son putting into the hands of other mothers’ children, but, hey, your son Strauss has recently assured the world that he is “a Boy Scout, everybody knows that.” I’d love to see the merit badges that Scout Troop handed out. Is there a Ted Bundy merit badge? If so, your loving son deserves one now. It should be red and green, for obvious reasons.

Yes. Class act, indeed. It makes you wonder when a cure for Herpes will be found. None too soon in my opinion.

Well played Microsoft

Every so often, a diamond in the ruff appears amongst the many bad descisions that Microsoft makes.

Very class act, guys. Kudos.

Duke Nukem Forever (in development, that is)

Proving that a good joke can’t be taken too far, 3D Realms shows off new Duke Nukem Forever footage.

Not sure what to expect after almost 10 years. Still, Duke Nukem 3D was what I cut my FPS teeth on and the franchise will always hold a special place in my heart. If it’s ever released, I’d probably buy it.

Of the Zapper and Link’s Crossbow

My wife, being the delectable little elf she is, bought be one of the much sought after Zapper w/ Link’s Crossbow. Why she didn’t wrap it and proceed to torment me about it for the next few days, is beyond me.

Sadly, I haven’t had the time I would like to dedicate to fully immerse myself into the game, what, with the holidays upon us and all. No, my zapping has been limited to the first three levels.

I will say this, though: The complexity of the game, and the difficulty right along with it, ramps up fairly quickly. You move from stationary targets in the first level to pounding moving targets in the second to mastering moving and shooting both stationary and moving targets at the same time in the third level. The difficulty gap in moving from level 2 to level 3 is astounding and leaves me wonder what the other levels will be like.

Even with the difficulty of the game, I’d recommend it. Heck, it’s only $25, which, no matter how it’s sliced, is a deal for a Wii game and accessory. Plus, Link’s Crossbow is much more polished and put together than Wii Play, and that got bought up like hotcakes, for nothing more than the idea that you’re getting a $10 game with your extra controller. With that in mind, the $25 price tag for accessory and a game that blows Wii play away is an outright steal.

No, if only I can get my hands on Umbrella Chronicles and the yet unreleased House of the Dead 1 & 2, I’d be in Wii ecstasy!

FINALLY!!

It’s like an MMO spritzer!

If you’re looking for an online RPG that won’t (or will) suck up your time, but aren’t looking to drop a lot of cash on some the more popular ones, give Dungeon Runners a try.

First, it’s free and so is the download, though for $5/month, you do get some benefits.

Second, it’s geared for the casual gamer, so you can spend 15 minutes running a dungeon and still feel like you accomplished something.

Third, loot is plentiful, which just adds to the sense of accomplishment.

It doesn’t have grand-scale immersible worlds, complicated quest lines (ala World of Warcraft), PVP is more of an arena or duel setting rather than open PVP and there’s no formal trading system (yet). However, if you’re looking for a free/low-cost MMO that won’t chew up a lot of your free time (unless you decide to let it), then DR just might be up your alley.

HA!

Sucks to be Sony

Sony sued (again) for patent violation, injunction sought on PS3 sales - Engadget.

I’m not sure why they’re seeking an injunction. It’s not like the things are selling anyway.

It’s put on a damn helmet day
