No accounting for style, but using your spare plastic grocery or trash bags to make a messenger bag has to be dirt cheap.
Makezine rocks!

Starbucks feels the economy pinch.
Maybe it has less to do with trying to offer discount plans, revitalize their menu and cutting jobs that aren’t currently filled and more to do with an increasingly frugal buyer who suddenly realized they were spending $6+ on COFFEE. Maybe if Starbucks adjusted their prices to fit within a crappy economy and stopped trying to have three stores on every block, this wouldn’t be an issue.

So, I have this inescapable urge to start my Twitter account back up and I have absolutely no idea why. I mean, I have a blog. I have a Facebook account (and a client for it on my Palm Centro). I even have a very neglected Myspace page. What does Twitter buy me that isn’t covered in the above?
It’s a rather odd dichotomy. The more I read about it, the more I want to do it and the more I question why I want to tweet.
Maybe someone out there that uses Twitter on a regular basis could help explain this to me?

A 1980’s era themed park complete with “TV programs from 1984, wearing gas masks, learning the Soviet anthem under duress, eating typical Soviet food (with genuine Soviet tableware) and even undergoing a concentration-camp-style interrogation and medical checks”? Think I’ll pass.
However, the educational experience would be wonderful and probably not unlike the Underground Railroad re-enactments that take place here in Ohio.
This is also one of the few instances where the “In Soviet Russia…” joke breaks down.

This is so, so wrong-looking.
Taken out of context, it looks like bush is in favor of some kinky fun. In context, it’s much less interesting.

Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritichie (who is a story in himself) should know that he is being watched and will be held to account.
You’d like to think so, but, with what happened in Ohio on 2004 and Florida in 2000, I’m not as convinced. In all likelihood, there will be just be a lot of finger pointing until people find the next shiny object that fills their attention span.
I’m not saying something doesn’t look very odd and I applaud people who want more stringent voting regulations and oversight, but I suppose I’m just more cynical that most.
“Government” and “accountability” hasn’t gone hand-in-hand in quite some time.

Fetus-shaped cookie cutter. Seriously, I think I’m going to hell for this one.

A flickr set of behind the scenes photos of the Obama family/supporters during election night.
I can’t place my finger on it, but the photos have an almost eerie feeling to them. Almost as if the photographer was unwanted.

So is Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe an honest attempt at ensnaring a new generation of fighter fans by toning down the violence and putting a focus on fun? Or is it just an attempt to cash in on the series’ waning popularity by ditching the violent, Mature ethos for a rating that’ll ensure the widest access to consumers’ wallets?
More than likely, it’s an attempt by two different companies to cash in on their appropriate franchises. In this cast, though, DC most likely added a lot of restrictions on what their licenses characters could do (Batman can maim, but won’t kill, etc).
