TW predicts downloadable movies to be big hit in ‘07; I yawn

Am I the only one not interested in downloadable movies? I mean, right now, I can drive to a store, buy a DVD and rip it to my PC all before a download of it would even finish. Also taking into account that all of these “movie download” sites cripple their downloads with DRM and how long it will take to do all this, where’s the draw?

I’m with you on this one. I ‘got’ downloadable music right away, though it took me a while and a change to public transport before I bought an iPod. I ‘get’ podcasts, often preferring them to music these days, especially while driving. Stand up comedy, alternative transport, bicycle culture, airline staff tales - all informative and entertaining. Downloading movies just seems too much like hard work.
ditto. what i’m looking forward to, if it’s done right, is when DVRs are at the central office. so, for instance, tivo HQ just records every single show on tv and i pick and choose from the entire lineup of everything on tv and have it beamed to my home tivo box.
it’s coming …
tj, that is the BEST tv idea I’ve heard of in, well, forever. Now THAT I could get behind.
As to downloading movies, they’d have to make it really cheap. Like, a buck or two a movie. Then that would fly. If they price it comparible to buying the DVD, it’ll never work.
