UPDATE (24-August: 3:32 pm): Hey, if you can’t persuade people with facts, hire someone to lie. Why not, it works with politicians.

I don’t really have anything more to add to John’s rant about the recent commercials (paid for by media companies) shooting down net neutrality, except to emphasize that these telecom and cable comapnies are scumbags to a degree that words just can’t convey.

Also, don’t believe a word these commercials say, it’s completely fabricated and they should feel lucky that lying to customers in this fashion isn’t illegal.

If you want the REAL skinny on Net Neutrality, check out its Wikipedia entry, read Save the internet.com and think for yourselves, people.

Remember, the people paying for these commercials are the same people that have the most to gain from a non-neutral internet. They’re the ones that want to charge different prices for different access to different site.

Want guaranteed access to Google Video? Better pay-up bucko.

You want to make sure you’re going to win that ebay auction, right? Well, it’d be a real shame if something were to happen to that connection during that time, wouldn’t it. Well, we can make sure that connection stays there. For a price.

If net neutrality isn’t preserved, we’d be entering into an era of digital racketeering akin to gang shake-downs and mobsters. The only difference is, these gangsters and mobsters donate to political campaigns, so their pet congressmen take care of the legalities.

If you’re congress-critters aren’t annoyed every time they see your name, you’re not doing your job as a citizen.
