Some Suave freaks up in ‘ere

So, last night while I was in the shower, I was looking at my cheap $0.99 bottle of Suave shampoo and happened to see my wife’s bottle of Suave body wash and thought to myself: “Self, those look awfully close in color”.

Getting curious (and because I apparantly don’t have better things to do in the shower), I started reading the ingredients. They’re the same. The only

My 15 oz. bottle of shampoo cost $0.99/bottle. Her 12 oz. bottle of body wash cost $3.99/bottle.

Just so everyone’s up to speed, Suave is selling shampoo as body wash for a higher price for less product.

Well, if *I* had a head like that…

I’ve had a demon of a headache since Monday night. It was so bad yesterday that I stayed home from work on Tuesday and actually became physically ill.

Until the ‘physically ill’ part, I was convinced it was an inner ear infection, but now I’m not so sure. No dizziness, earache medicine’s of no help and the worst part of the headache is over. I mean, it’s still there, but now I can at least stand to be in the presence of light.

Dehydration, maybe? Just a random migraine? Who knows. All I want to know is when it’s leaving, cause I’ve had about enough of it. That power drill’s looking mighty tempting…

IT’S NOTA TUMOR!!

Merrill Lynch Predicts a wee priced Wii

Slashdot | Merrill Lynch Predicts $200 Wii

This is more like it. $200 places it well within the ‘affordable’ range.

The hair, man! It’s out to get me!

Anyone else having trouble focusing on seeing the DaVinci Code because of Tome Hanks’ hair?

The stills on imdb look ok, but it’s been completely distracting in all the trailers I’ve seen.

Personality Defect Test

Posted by J.A.S.O.N. on 15 May 2006 | Tagged as: Babble, Internet, Quizzes & Memes

Stolen from Solly

Spiteful Loner
You are 85% Rational, 14% Extroverted, 57% Brutal, and 42% Arrogant.
You are the Spiteful Loner, the personality type that is most likely to go on a shooting rampage. In high school, you were probably that kid who wore all black and who sat alone in a corner of the lunch room, drawing pictures of dead babies. You are a rational person and tend to hold emotions in very low-esteem; not only that, but you are also rather introverted, meaning you probably bury any emotions you feel deep inside yourself, like all of the bodies in your backyard. Combine these traits with your dislike of others and your brutality, and it seems that you would be quite likely to shoot innocent people in a rampage. Most likely, you also have low self-esteem. Hell, I get low self-esteem just looking at you. This is only yet one more incentive to go on a shooting rampage, because you wouldn’t care if you died as a result. Granted, you probably haven’t gone on a shooting rampage and probably never will, but all the motivations are there. All you need is for someone to push you over the edge, calling you names and belittling you. Like me. But don’t shoot me. I have a 101 mile-long knife, you know. In conclusion, your personality is defective because you are too introverted, brutal, insecure, and rather unemotional. No wonder no one hangs around you, you morbid, cold-hearted freak!

To put it less negatively:

1. You are more RATIONAL than intuitive.

2. You are more INTROVERTED than extroverted.

3. You are more BRUTAL than gentle.

4. You are more HUMBLE than arrogant.

Compatibility:

Your exact opposite is the Televangelist.

Other personalities you would probably get along with are the Capitalist Pig, the Smartass, and the Sociopath.

If you scored near fifty percent for a certain trait (42%-58%), you could very well go either way. For example, someone with 42% Extroversion is slightly leaning towards being an introvert, but is close enough to being an extrovert to be classified that way as well. Below is a list of the other personality types so that you can determine which other possible categories you may fill if you scored near fifty percent for certain traits.

The other personality types:

The Emo Kid: Intuitive, Introverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Starving Artist: Intuitive, Introverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Bitch-Slap: Intuitive, Introverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Brute: Intuitive, Introverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Hippie: Intuitive, Extroverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Televangelist: Intuitive, Extroverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Schoolyard Bully: Intuitive, Extroverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Class Clown: Intuitive, Extroverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Robot: Rational, Introverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Haughty Intellectual: Rational, Introverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Spiteful Loner: Rational, Introverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Sociopath: Rational, Introverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Hand-Raiser: Rational, Extroverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Braggart: Rational, Extroverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Capitalist Pig: Rational, Extroverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Smartass: Rational, Extroverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

President gives speech tonight

Posted by J.A.S.O.N. on 15 May 2006 | Tagged as: Politics

Looks like the President has a speech tonight during prime time TV. Some are predicting a sharp chang in the administration’s stance on comse topics.

I’m not sure what to think. I’d like to think that this administration (and to be honest, Congress as well) are planning on turning over a new leaf, but, until Santa and the Easter Bunny start returning my letters, I’m not going to hold my breath. Still, though, taking over prime time TV slots isn’t done for your run-of-the-mill pep speeches and morbid curiousity has me thinking I’ll probably tune in for at least the first ten minutes.

UPDATE (10:15 16-May): He did a lot of pontificating and playing on the heartstrings of Americans, probably hoping to change their attitudes towards illegal immigrants and, in return, hpoing they’ll pressure their representatives. Most of what he said was PR fluff and of no real substance. He’s still pushing guest worker programs, still wanting a type of amnesty even though he swears that’s not what he wants and still hasn’t seen the heart of the issue. I felt his speech, while a good first step and generally positive, was lip service and more of an attempt to try and pressure Congress to give him his way.

We have real problems with border control. The entire infrastructure of it is weak and falling apart. Illegals just walk across the border. They’ve been undermined by other “law enforcement” agencies, been handed massive budget cuts and pretty much been told not to do their jobs. All during a time when we’re all supposed to be “serious about security”. This Congress and Presidency has proven to me that they care more for the rights, liberation and demands of other countries than the rights and opinions of their own citizens and consituents.

What’s worse is that I find myself allying beside Republicans and feeling let down by Democrats yet again. If I won’t vote Republican and I can’t in good conscience vote Democrat, what’s left to me?

We have real problems with border control and we need more than a token effort from our administration. The rest of the Republican part appears to be getting tough on this issue and it may very well be what lines them up for re-election.

The wait isn’t THAT long…

Make your Flickr photos H4ppier

Posted by J.A.S.O.N. on 10 May 2006 | Tagged as: Internet, Photography

A co-worker showed me h4ppier photos, a 3rd party, PHP-powered Organizr substitute and I must say that I’m hooked.

I never have like Flickr’s Organizr tool. Because it’s all written in Flash, it bogs my system down way too much, is agonizingly slow to react to my input and ignores my input (because I move too fast for it) about 60% of the time. Plu, H4ppier photos appeals to my *NIX site since it’s interface feels decidedly more “command-line”. I re-tagged 119 photos in under a minute with this new tool. Try that with Organizr.

If I had any complaints about H4ppier photos, it’s that there’s no intuitive way to “Display all matching results” from a search. By default, only the 20 newest photos that match your search criteria are displayed. You can change this to any number you want, but it has to be done every time you search. If you want to “Display All”, set that number to some rediculously high number and it works the same, but an option to do it would be appreciated.

Other than that, it’s a spiffy tool that I see myself using quite often.
