Also announced, the iPOD Hi-Fi:
Goodbye, big stereo. Hello, iPod Hi-Fi, a beautiful, compact sound system with an integrated Universal Dock for iPod that fills the room with rich, audiophile-quality sound. It’s the home stereo — reinvented.
Price: $349.00

Man
Those are some prices! They must be flying out the door. If I could get the same here, I’d be buying the 1.66/80Gb Mini as a new family machine.
$350 for an ipod?! no thanks … i don’t care if it IS hi-fi, it’s also hi-price. jeez.
I know they’re targeting the computer beginner family (they are selling Macs after all… *evil grin*), but it seems a little under-powered given the current state of state-of-the-art. I know, I know, they’re targeting the hardware to the price. Still, 1 Gig RAM would have been worth it, as would have more HD space.
The “serial ATA” made me wonder are these still tiny laptop drives or full drives I could replace with a regular 250GB or 500GB.
The $350 only gets you the boombox not the actual iPod.
