Dog #2 down

Don’t worry, Oreo’s fine. She hasn’t been put down or anything like that. However, we do need ot find a new home for her.

When we bought Oreo, our Jack Russell Terrier, we were warned that the breed was extremely hyper-active. While we thought we would be able to handle this, we were just not prepared for the energy level of the breed.

My decision to find a new home for Oreo, which Crystal readily agreed to, however, was more for the dog’s sake than ours. See, Crystal and I work during the day, so poor Oreo ends up caged or leashed most of the day without much exercise. When we get home, she’s this explosive ball of furry energy and it’s much too cold out for us to walk her (our fault, again) to burn it off. This causes both boredom and pent-up energy; a recipie for destructive behavior in dogs. Oreo has cost us some decent replacement bills for coreds and such. I don’t really fault her, but neither can I do much to stop her behavior. Shelby’s also bore the brunt of Oreo’s playing, bearing small scars on her arms and legs from nips and scratches. It’s to the point where we have to keep the two separated since Shelby encourages the behavior.

More than anything, though, it’s not fair to Oreo to be pent up like that all day. It’ll also cause her health problems in the long-run, since we don’t have the ability to exercise her like she needs. She’ll become lethargic, develop hip problems and possible heart issues.

No, it’s better to find her a better home that she deserves than to be selfish.

Say what?

I’m watching. Gov. Schwarzenegger live on CSPAN talking about fitness in our children.

Is it wrong of me to laugh when the captioning can’t even figure out what he’s saying?

This one’s Deskmerc’s fault. I’m really surprised by the outcome, though. I suck at math.

Three men in Ohio indicted for terrorism. Well, it’s not like there’s much else to do in Ohio unless you’re into clubbing or shopping.

Still, it’s a bit unsettling.
