AT&T wants you to double pay for everything net related

AT&T CEO Ed Whitacre is an idiot and they’re playing right into Google’s hand.
Think about it. Google’s bought up a ton of dark fiber, email, blogging, rumors of a Google PC, rumors of a Google-branded version of Ubuntu, IM, Picasa, Google Earth. Seriously, who has the most to gain from the Balkanization of the net?
They just need to rebrand themselves as Skynet and stop with the stalling.
In the meantime, I’m adding AT&T to the list of companies never to buy anything from.

Most of AT&T’s bandwidth sales are to downstream providers anyways, and that level of bandwidth business is well thought out. I think I know what Ed Whitacre is saying stuff like this for: he wants people to buy AT&T VoIP, not Vonage VoIP. What an asshole.
