Ok, I’m blatantly stealing this idea from Michele and I’m fairly certain Frank will steal it from me.
Anyway, so I have this decent, newfangled digital camera and want to get started in digital photography. Problem is, I need a little push to get started. It’s not a spectacular camera (it’s no Nikon D70), but it’s decent enough to get started.
Here’s what I’m asking: In the comments, leave something you want a picture of. I’m looking for thinks like Christams decorations, trees, flowers, animals, etc. Please try to keep them a tad generic since I have to be able to actually find the subject to take a picture of. I live in Ohio, so things like palm trees, beaches and exotic birds are a tad out of the question.
I’ll pick about 5 subjects out of the comments to start snapping pictures of and will post the single best shot I get of them. If you like, I can email you a selection of what I took, though no promises.
So, what do you guys what to see?
[UPDATE] So far, I have:
- Photos of 5 interesting items after taking 500 steps from my front door. -Deltus
- Something snow-covered (well, when we get snow, I’ll get to it) -Frank
- Macro shot of a Christmas light -Frank
- Silhouette (This one might be a tad tough. My camera doesn’t always like low-light pictures.) -Kara
I think the best picture you ever took without a doubt is the one of Shelby and her mommy sleeping. I have always been a sap for unplanned
spur of the moment pictures like that
Start at your front door. Take 500 steps (exactly) in whichever direction amuses you. You can turn corners and such if you wish, but it must be 500 steps. Then, once the 500th step has been taken, take a picture of the 5 most interesting things you can see from that spot.
You always gotta be the difficult one, don’t you Deltus?
i don’t know if it’s snowing there yet, but that would be something i wouldn’t mind seeing… maybe a snow covered tree or something.
if it’s not snowing, then maybe a macro of a christmas light.
How about a silhouette? They’re good practice for dealing with backlighting and focus. And they look cool, too.
Kara:
*cringe* I was hoping no one would think of those. I suppose I have to try sometime, though I’m not sure the sun’s going to work with me on that.
Frank:
Snow might still be a few weeks off, but I can try it when it does fall. Macros aren’t a problem. I LOVE doing macros.
