Tonight was Shelby’s first Halloween Trick or Treat experience. She was a tad aprehensive at first because of the amount of people wandering around, but she got over it when she seen that people were giving candy away.
Tutns out she’s a real sucker for Dum Dums (pun intended).
You can click the image below to see some of the photos I took.

Yes, to help ’save’ you, Homeland Security wants to take your rights away.
To quote Gen. Patrick M. Hughes, the current Homeland Security Department’s top intelligence official
“Set aside what the mass of people think. Some things are so bad for them that you cannot allow them to have them. One of them is war in the context of terrorism in the United States.
[...]
Therefore, we have to abridge individual rights, change the societal conditions, and act in ways that heretofore were not in accordance with our values and traditions, like giving a police officer or security official the right to search you without a judicial finding of probable cause.”
Somehow I don’t think that abridging our rights will accomplish “The Government’s first duty is to protect the lives and liberties of the American people” as quoted on http://www.georgewbush.com/Agenda/Chapter.aspx?ID=4.
This confirms that the current presidential administration doesn’t care too much for that pesky 4th amendment or your civil liberties.
Somedays I wish we had a candidate that was worth voting for. Someone that didn’t try to spin, or hide, or convolute. To date, I can’t remember such a candidate.

Yes, I know my comments section doesn’t remember you when you come back. No, I don’t know why. It’s a problem with wordpress 1.2.1. All fixed now, but you might have to delete your cookies for it to take effect.
Yes, my RSS feed is still broken in NewsGator. No, I don’t know why. I do know it’s fixed in 1.3, though. It looks like it was my StatTraq plugin that was giving it fits. All appears to load fine, now. Not sure if it was a problem that’s been fixed or not, but I already have 3 other stat-tracking pages, so it’s not really neccessary.

Looking for an easy way to generated an RSS feed? Maybe you have your own website that isn’t powered by blog software or the software you use (gasp!) doesn’t generate an RSS feed.
Well, RSS Builder is here to save the day!

Slashdot | Secret Service Reads Livejournal
Read the above. Make sure to check out the Google cache that it mentions. Now read it all again (I’m sure you did that anyway, since It’s tough to belive anyone would write that).
Sweet jumping Jesus on a pogo stick! Why in God’s name would you make a post like that in a public forum and NOT expect a visit? I’m all for freedom of speech and all that, but, hell, how retarded can you be? I can’t even blame Bush on this one, since it was all the FBI and Secret Service.
The really sad thing about this whole ordeal? The woman isn’t some deranged teen as you might think. She’s just a year younger than I am (since she was nice enough leave her birthdate on her bio).
If this is the kind of “informed voters” that are hitting the polls in just under a week, Lord Jesus, help us for we are doomed.

Nintendo has forever cemented in my mind that they’re a classy company.
You see, Nintendo sued The Suicide Girls (no link because it’s a pr0n site) [Links here and here].
However, the following was sent to the owner of the site courtesy of Nintendo [Via Boing Boing]:
Hello,
We would like to apologize to you and to those who frequent the suicidegirls.com website for inadvertently contacting you about a fan posting on the website.
We know that many of our fans are old enough to make their own choice about what they want to view on the Internet. We value the support of our fans and we respect their decisions. The letter was sent as part of an ongoing Nintendo program to aggressively protect our younger consumers from the hundreds of sexually-explicit sites each year that use Nintendo properties to attract children. We are proud of our efforts in this area. Unfortunately, the site posting identified in our letter was targeted by mistake.
As a gesture of goodwill, we would like to offer you (and RuneLateralus) a free Nintendo video game system and game of your choice. If you would like to take Nintendo of America up on this offer, please contact the Consumer Services Dept. at 1-800-633-3236 and the system and game will be sent to your address as listed in the WHOIS contact information for suicidegirls.com.
In addition, we would appreciate it if you could provide us with contact information for RuneLateralus, or have him contact us directly, so that we may apologize to him. We would be glad to send him a game and system of his choice through you as well, since we do not have his contact information.
Sincerely,
Christie Hamilton
Nintendo of America Inc.
Consumer Service Department
Now, I totally agree that Nintentdo should have reviewed the results of whatever automated output was generated by their search engines to save themseles some grief, but at least they’re trying to do right by the site owner. Most you would get from someone like Microsoft would be that they drop the charges (after dragging you through court a bit) and told that you were “lucky”.
Guess I should look into a Gamecube, now.

Oh sweet Jesus this is funny!
Oddly enough, this is the exact same reason I quit playing MMORPG’s like Shadowbane. I just couldn’t take the sheer amount of idiots concentrated in a single spot. Those of you who play MMORPGs understand.

A co-worker just pointed out that all the little/big endian information for our SGI systems is located in:
/usr/include/sex.h.
You just can’t plan comedy like that.
In other news, typing make out on our Compaq Tru64 systems yielded the following message:
Make: Don’t know how to make out. Stop.
Logging into a Sun you don’t have an account on? You get:
You don’t exist. Go away.
I feel somewhat better, but still feel like cracking some skulls.
