Yes, I can see how our homeland security is threatened by a Sci-Fi fan…
/sarcasm
I guess the conspiracy theorists were right afterall. It didn’t take long for the FBI to start abusing it’s newfound Patriot Act powers, did it?
I suggest everyone in OH and CA write to their local government expressing nothing but contempt for the MPAA and the Patriot Act.
If this is the way this act is going to be used, then we don’t need it.
As points out:
“The Patriot Act does have its problems, but if you look at the update to the boing boing post, or this /. post, I don’t think you’ll have as much sympathy for the guy. Not nearly as innocent as he claims to be. Although the FBI should pay for raping that poor ibook!!
Of course, if you’re really paranoid, this could all be a smear campaign by the FBI to make you look the other way. :P”
I really HATE it when people do crap like that. I’m sure the guy knew people (like me) would get fired up the moment the Patriot Act was mentioned. Schmuck.
My views on the Partiot Act are still the same, but if this guy truly was hosting and distributing Stargate episodes from his server, well, I’m not sure what he expected to happen and I can’t really feel that sorry for him.
Thanks for the tip-off John.

Yep, that horrendous Act needs scraped like the garbage it is. That, and others, even before the Patriot Act.
Hey…I like SG1…:P

Glad to be of service. The story seemed highly skewed to me when I read it so I had to check out more info. The MPAA and teh FBI don’t waste their time and energy on harmless fan sites.
I’m sure the jerk conned some money out of the techie crowd by intentionally invoking the knee-jerk reactions to which you eluded. Not cool. >_<
