Apple firing warning shots at Real

Jake Ludington’s Digital Lifestyle - Apple Fire Warning Shot at Real.

This make me nervous. On one hand, the DMCA is evil and needs to be destroyed because it’s being used outside the scope of how it was intended. We have people suing educational sites for posting white papers, printer companies using it to supress competition and many other bad things

On the other, this is one of the very few legitimate things it would protect against. I think Real stepped a tad too far in this.

I think the DMCA goes way too far and needs to be removed entirely and have something much more reasonable drafted from scratch.

Screen Saver?

Posted by J.A.S.O.N. on 27 Jul 2004 | Tagged as: Tech

OK, this is going to sound weird, but here goes:

I need a transparent screen saver for windows 2000 that allows you to view the desktop and it’s movements while still allowing it to be password protected.

It’s for a project at work and has to be freeware (don’t ask). Anyone have or seen something like that?

Stargate Information Archive - Federal Charges Filed Against SG-1 Archive

Yes, I can see how our homeland security is threatened by a Sci-Fi fan…

/sarcasm

I guess the conspiracy theorists were right afterall. It didn’t take long for the FBI to start abusing it’s newfound Patriot Act powers, did it?

I suggest everyone in OH and CA write to their local government expressing nothing but contempt for the MPAA and the Patriot Act.

If this is the way this act is going to be used, then we don’t need it.

As points out:

“The Patriot Act does have its problems, but if you look at the update to the boing boing post, or this /. post, I don’t think you’ll have as much sympathy for the guy. Not nearly as innocent as he claims to be. Although the FBI should pay for raping that poor ibook!! :(

Of course, if you’re really paranoid, this could all be a smear campaign by the FBI to make you look the other way. :P”

I really HATE it when people do crap like that. I’m sure the guy knew people (like me) would get fired up the moment the Patriot Act was mentioned. Schmuck.

My views on the Partiot Act are still the same, but if this guy truly was hosting and distributing Stargate episodes from his server, well, I’m not sure what he expected to happen and I can’t really feel that sorry for him.

Thanks for the tip-off John.

This is considered news?

C’mon people, if you want to hang Kerry I’m sure there’s much better material out there than that.

Gallery Update

Posted by J.A.S.O.N. on 25 Jul 2004 | Tagged as: Site News

I’ve scrubbed and cleaned out the Photo Gallery. I’ve uploaded some recent pics of Shelby while I was at it and left the Zoo pics.

Just as an example, how’s this for a heart breaker?

The Cluebat

Found via Note-It Posts‘ blogroll.

How could you NOT like a site with the title of The Cluebat?!?

Plus, the guy’s concentrating on hammering the willfully clueless. This has extreme potential for both hilarity and insight, all in the same blog.

Smoking something

Have you ever written a piece of code that looked fine when you wrote it until you went back and actually examined and found out that is does absolutely nothing?

And I mean nothing. As in I just removed the entire block and the program behaved exactly teh same as when the code was in there.

Good God, what am I smoking?!?

Gaming today

Yeah, I think this just about sums up today’s genre of fighting video games.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go watch Kasumi pummel her opponent with her insanely large boobies.

EDIT: This one’s for you, Deltus.
This is Kasumi from DOA3.
Couldn’t find any boob-pummelage, though.

Is that….PISS?!?

This one’s via Boing-Boing.

US army food… just add urine.

Yeah. Add this to the list of reasons I never joined the military, though it has given me a new reason to respect anyone who has joined upt.

I can just see this one on the field:

“Man, I gotta go, but if I do, I won’t be able to eat later *does the pee-pee dance*”

I’m sure that it’s safe and all, but doesn’t it give you the heebie-jeebies just thinking about it?

(Bonus points to whoever can point out where I got the title from)
