Presidential Candidate, Carol Moseley Braun…

A friend of mine just turned me on towards woman Democrat candidate for presidency Carol Moseley Braun. After reading through her site, I can appreciate the candor at which she holds herself and how up front she is about the issues she believes in. It’s rare you see that kind of forwardness in a presidential candidate.
However, it’ll take more than quotes to sway my vote when the time comes. To test her mettle, I emailed her campaign site asking about her stances on subjects that concern me, which are not easily solved and would definitely pull my vote were the answers what I liked.
The email I sent is in the extended entry. I won’t hold my breath concerning a response, I gave up on poiticians long ago.
“I was tipped off to this candidate by a friend and I must say I’m impressed at the candor and how up front Carol is concerning her views and what she wants to accomplish.
However, I would be curious to see what her views in regaards to copyright law, the DMCA and other attacks against consumer rights from the likes of the RIAA, the TCPA initiative, the Pattriot Act/Total Information Awareness and even Microsoft.
In this Computer Age, information, privacy rights and consumer rights are more important than ever and any candidate that hopes to win my vote would have to address these concerns that are fair to the consumer instead of taking a kneejerk reaction in favor of copyright holders and large corporations like the current presidency has.
Other topics I would like to see are things such as energy conservation views, ideas for new energy sources (which includes handling oil companies should a viable alternative come forward) and propogation of said technologies.
I feel all of these are concerns that younger voters take to heart everyday and addressing them may bring forth a whole new voting base.
I look forward to hearing Carol’s views on any or all of these topics.”

Jason, you and I need to talk sometime about alternative energy sources. That’s all I’m saying.
Jason, I think its great that you have this on your blog. I hope others take it into consideration. I think Moseley Braun is an impressive candidate, but she will have a hard time in the primaries because she began her fundraising so late in the game, especially, since Howard Dean has already collected so much ($7.5 mill). And sadly, that is all part of the political game.
I agree with her views on education. I think it is important to use federal funding to change the policy of using property taxes to fund schools. It is refreshing to hear a candidate with that idea in mind. Property taxes directly links poverty with education and leads to a concentration of poor public schooling. Poorer communities need better resources, including young innovative teachers. If elected president I only hope she can convince Congress to agree with her, which is not necessarily an easy task.
Another area that she would need the help of Congress, is health care. America needs national health care, but it is a difficult policy to create and get players to agree on. I hope she would have better luck than Clinton in this aspect.
Keep me updated on any responce you get about your email.
